The Annual Burdell’s Best Awards Banquet (Spring 1996)
Each year, the Presidents’ Council organizes a banquet to recognize outstanding organizational achievements on campus and in the community. The First Annual Burdell’s Best Awards Banquet was held in Spring 1996. We had recently returned from our trip to the Smokies and had just wrapped up our involvement with CultureFest ‘96.
Each campus organization is invited to enter in any two categories. We decided to enter in Most Organizational Spirit and Best Activity. Given the size of our organization then, as well as the number of alumni we had involved, the overall turnout was spectacular. The previous Fall, we had managed to organize, in three days, an entry into the Christmas Tree Decoration Contest - and won second prize - a feat considering that most of the larger organizations did not even manage to participate in the event. In addition, we won first place for Cultural Display at the CultureFest. To top it all off, we had the Bengal Tigers set up - without having enough able-bodied members to field a team! Thus we won the prize in the Most Organizational Spirit category.
